Shopify

The Phew app for Shopify shows the offer in the cart and checkout, creates policies from paid orders and cancels them when items are refunded. No code is needed.

  1. Open the install link we send you and approve the app in your Shopify admin. The app asks only for the permissions it needs: read products, read orders, and write cart and checkout extensions.

  2. The app opens a one-time setup link to getphew.com/join/…. It works once and expires after 7 days. Use it to create your Phew merchant account, or connect the store to an existing one.

  3. Phew reads your catalogue and classifies each product (bikes, sports, electronics or other). Items that aren’t eligible are never offered cover. You can review the classification in the app.

  4. Turn on the offer. In the theme editor, add the Phew offer block to the cart page or drawer. On Shopify Plus, add the Phew checkout UI extension to the checkout as well.

  5. Place a test order with the store in test mode. The app uses sandbox keys until you switch it to live.

Shopify event Phew action
Cart updated Fetches an offer for the eligible items and shows it
Order paid (orders/paid) Creates a policy for each covered item
Refund created (refunds/create) Cancels the policy for each refunded covered item
Order cancelled (orders/cancelled) Cancels all policies for the order
App uninstalled Stops offering cover; existing policies stay active

The premium is added to the order as its own line item, so it appears on the customer’s receipt and is refunded by Shopify when you refund the line.

The app verifies every Shopify webhook with the HMAC in X-Shopify-Hmac-Sha256 before acting on it, and processes each webhook ID only once.

Uninstalling stops new offers immediately. Customers keep the cover they bought, and claims continue as normal.
